January 7, 2027-April 15, 2027
Lead with intention, grow with purpose.
It's 3:00 A.M., and you're already planning for next year. You're the one carrying the weight of your organization when everyone else is asleep — payroll, the grant that might not come through, the board meeting you haven't prepped for, the program you can't afford to cut.
I've been there. Thirty-plus years in this sector — as a financial analyst who helped arrange nearly $120 million in bond financing for a local hospital, as a founding executive director, and now as the one leaders call when the board meeting goes sideways. These experiences have put me in the room with hundreds of founders caught in that exact spiral.
Here's what I've learned: the founders who make it through that spiral aren't the ones working harder. They're the ones who stop relying on trial and error and start building the systems their organizations need to work. That's why I created Capacity Building Blocks Online™.

These are the essential building blocks every nonprofit leader needs to build a sustainable organization — one that actually delivers for the clients and communities it serves. Every session is grounded in evidence-based practice you can put to work in your organization immediately.
The materials are yours to keep — for developing grant proposals, building logic models, strengthening your board, and guiding your organization through whatever change comes next.
Based on the teachings of John Maxwell, an international leadership authority. Learn to lead people, not just manage tasks, so your team follows because they trust you.
Build a board that's an actual governance partner — not just names on a letterhead. You should never carry the organization alone.
Ground your programs in real evidence of what your community needs, so you're solving the right problem with confidence.
Know exactly where you're headed and why. This will help you to approach every decision from a lens of moving you toward strategic priorities, as opposed to chasing whatever's loudest.
Design programs that are evidence-based and built to actually work for the people you serve.
Know your programs are working, and be able to prove it to funders and your board.
Build partnerships that expand what's possible for your organization, instead of competing for the same small pool of resources.
Tell your story in a way that moves donors, funders, and your community to act.
Learn the rules of civic engagement to influence the policies that shape your sector, so you can give a real voice to your clients and community and effect positive change.
Use technology and AI responsibly to get more done with the capacity you already have.
Plan ahead for downturns, so you meet a hard month with a plan instead of a scramble.
Build a real, repeatable fundraising strategy, so you always know where the next dollar is coming from.
Know exactly what state and federal agencies expect of you, so you stay ahead of every requirement with confidence.
Learn to research and write proposals using the GrantStation platform — so strong programs get the funding they deserve.
