Why You Need A Comprehensive Approach to Nonprofit Resource Mapping

If you are anything like me, you sometimes get so busy “doing the work” that you may not be fully aware of the assets you have at your fingertips, let alone what you need. You may go for a period of time “winging it,” and “guestimating” what you have and what you need. As a result, your budgets may be understated, you could be overlooking valuable assets for your strategic planning and program development; your organization may be understaffed or missing valuable training opportunities. This is the short list.

The truth of the matter is, we cannot be truly effective in growing our organizations until we have a strong grasp of the resources we need to provide high quality programs and services.  We also need to know what we have on hand; the gaps we need to fill and have a deadline for closing the gaps.

We call this workbook “Resource Mapping On Steroids” because it is one of the most—if not THE most—comprehensive set of mapping tools assembled in one place. We designed it to help you align your resource development with your mission, vision, goals, and objectives. In other words, you will be strategic in your resource acquisition process. This workbook will help you to map out your organizational and community resources from the top down and assess your strengths and weaknesses.

The results of your resource mapping processes could serve as a great foundation for board development, strategic planning, program development, fundraising, staff development, capital planning, collaboration, coordinating community initiatives, and the list goes on.
